For some reason my computer is now running hotter than it used to.

Any ideas short of water cooling to cool it?

    You should check your temperature!
Download HWinfo64 (no installation!), select sensors-only and you will know whats getting hot!!

decouple heat sink and clean. Make sure you buy thermal paste to attached your heat sink back to the cpu and clean the cpu with rubbing alcohol and let dry before applying paste. What i mean by cleaning the cpu is do not remove it from the socket... just use a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and gently remove the old thermal paste.
